Waterfront Stroll in Washington DC's Newest Neighborhood:

For many years Georgetown was the only Washington DC neighborhood with worthwhile waterfront space. Recently, two new options have emerged and surpassed Georgetown’s waterfront space - the SE waterfront including The Yards, and the newest addition, opened in October of 2017, at The Wharf.

The Wharf is a cornerstone of the revitalization of DC’s historic Southwest Waterfront community transforming the neighborhood into one of the city’s hottest destinations for dining, shopping and entertainment. It now houses many unique locations with a view, to include the nation’s longest continually operating open-air fish market. The Wharf features an accessible riverfront, including four different piers, each with their own theme and activities. It also includes the Anthem, a $60 million, 6,000-capacity concert hall Anthem, a sister-venue to DC’s venerated 9:30 club.

At a minimum, it’s worth a stroll along the water, taking in the sights and sounds of DC’s newest neighborhood and attraction. While you are walking through, stop for a sandwich at Grazie Grazie, the reincarnated version of Taylor Gourmet, the DC beloved original Philly Sandwich store that expanded too quickly and went underwater, grab a gourmet donut at District Doughnuts, or grab a waterside seat and a drink at Cantina Bambina or one of the other patios along the water.
